RB Compilation of the top 100 was delayed a year due to the pandemic, and this year’s comeback list is full of a few surprises. Some longtime winners were not included due to closures or unusually low sales, as well as some notable newcomers.
“This year’s top 100 restaurants are as broad as any in the ranking’s history,” said jonathan maze, restaurant business editor in chief. “They include trendy upscale restaurants with rooftop bars, high-priced experience concepts, grill joints, and even a restaurant in an old, converted mill, at every price point imaginable. The 2022 Top 100 Restaurants Served 272 Million Meals Last Year, Generated $1.8 billion Discount.The cities with the most restaurants in the Top 100 include chicago, Miami/fort lauderdale, New York City and Las Vegas.
For the purposes of this list, only restaurant concepts with five or fewer locations are considered “standalone.” Rankings are based on total food and beverage sales in 2021. Information is gathered through surveys and if data is not provided, sales are estimated based on publicly available information, similar concepts and other factors.
