Bloomington, MN (Fox 9) – The Mall of America went into lockdown after a shooting Friday night that left one person dead after an altercation.
One person was shot after two groups of men appeared to fight, FOX 9 confirmed, according to police.
“It’s stupid, it’s stupid, it’s stupid,” Bloomington Police Chief Booker Hodges said. “Whoever did it, we’ll get it. Whoever helped them, we’ll lock you up too. “
Bloomington police initially responded to the scene in Nordstrom, where they provided life-saving measures to the victims before they were pronounced dead. According to police, the entire incident lasted about 30 seconds.
After the lockdown, the mall confirmed that everyone had been evacuated and the mall remained closed at night.It will reopen on Saturday from 10am to 6pm
Police would not elaborate on the current presence of metal detectors at the entrance of the Mall of America.
FOX 9 crews are at the scene and are working to confirm details with authorities about the victim’s condition and the suspect’s whereabouts.
