WAYNESBORO, Va. (WHSV) – Last week, Governor Youngkin announced the Community Business Startup Awards, which provide $185,000 in funding for three programs in the state. Waynesboro received $45,000 for funding its “Growing Waynesboro” program. The program will provide resources to support the development of local entrepreneurial efforts aimed at creating new business, stimulating new jobs and expansion.
“For Waynesboro, this award builds on our successful Growing Waynesboro Program, which has provided grants, business plan guidance, funding, encouragement and entrepreneurial competition over the past decade ,” said Greg Hitchin, director of economic development and tourism for the city of Waynesboro.
This year’s $45,000 prize will partially fund Grow Waynesboro’s 2023 business plan competition. Innovators from across the region will be invited to participate, and winners will receive start-up resources, which may include grant awards, building lease assistance, marketing support, custom training options, professional mentoring and technical assistance.
