Two commercial locations in Biloxi set for real estate development

Miss Biloxi (WLOX) – Two Biloxi locations will soon accommodate new businesses.

Investors are excited about plans to extend Popp’s Ferry from Pass Road to Highway 90, and they’ve announced developments that will breathe new life into the area.

New opportunities are on the horizon for Biloxi.

One of those sites is the old Winn-Dixie site at Pope’s Ferry and Pass Roads, said Jerry Creel, director of community development for Biloxi. The second is the Hobby Lobby at Edgewater Square.

“We’re anticipating a lot of job creation from what’s coming. We’ve got some locals, some people who need jobs,” Creel said.

First of all, it’s all about the paperwork.

The city has been doing business with investors for about a year, Creel said. Investors purchased the old Winn Dixie property and Hobby Lobby.

Investors aren’t releasing details right now, but what we do know is that economic opportunity is growing.

“We’ve had some empty tenant space there for a while, and of course the city’s new connection from Pass Road to Highway 90 has seen a lot of interest in tenant space there,” Creel said.

The same reality is found near Eisenhower Boulevard.

“If you notice, it’s in the center or pretty much every side of the condo, and Goose Pointe is across the street. There’s a lot of residential traffic there. We see it as a gold mine. If it develops in the right way, it’s going to be a A draw. I think they’ve got some great ideas to bring some life to the city and generate a lot of traffic,” Creel said.
