(Bloomberg) — Twitter Inc. It has begun restoring accounts suspended for violating the platform’s rules, and the company plans to restore more accounts in the next 30 days.
In a series of tweets Friday night, Twitter said it had identified several policies in which permanent suspensions were “disproportionate” violations of the rules.
The company said restoring accounts would still be subject to compliance with its regulations. “Permanent suspension remains an enforcement action for serious violations,” it said.
In a separate tweet following a poll conducted by the social media site, Twitter’s billionaire owner Elon Musk said all accounts that searched for his location “will now be unsuspended “.
Earlier this week, the social network suspended the accounts of several prominent journalists — including from The Washington Post, CNN and The New York Times — for reporting on Musk, who they claimed were endangering his family.
