Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under the guise of “staff.” Typically, the “staff” byline is used when rewriting basic newsletters originating from official sources, such as city press releases about road closures, and require little coverage. This byline is sometimes used when a news story has many authors or is formed by aggregating news previously reported from various sources. If external sources were used, they will be noted in the story.
