Technology, talent are two pillars of India’s development: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday that technology and talent are the two pillars of India’s development journey, stressing the importance of technology as an inclusive factor for India. In a video message to the 2nd United Nations World Geospatial Information Congress 2022 here, the Prime Minister said the country has been working hard to realize Antyodya’s vision, which means empowering the last man in the last mile in mission mode.

It’s the mission that guides us on last-mile empowerment, and it’s the mission of empowerment at scale, he said.

“Banks 450 million unbanked people, a population larger than the United States. Provides insurance to 135 million uninsured people, roughly the size of the population of France. Provides sanitation to 110 million households and serves more than 60 million Households are provided with running water connections and India is making sure no one is left behind,” Modi said.

He noted that India is the world’s number one in real-time digital payments, with even small-scale providers accepting or preferring digital payments.

“India is a young country with a strong spirit of innovation. We are one of the top startup hubs in the world. We have almost doubled the number of unicorn startups since 2021. This is thanks to India’s young talent,” the Prime Minister said.
