“We continue to see more and more Ohioans finding rewarding careers through IMAP as they gain new technical skills,” said Lt. Governor Jon Husted. “In many cases, employers place more weight on credentials than degrees when making hiring decisions — certificates are the currency of the modern economy.”
The University of Miami, Ohio University and the University of Cincinnati are already part of the project.
“This program is another example of all of the above approaches that Ohio State is taking to educate our students and strengthen our workforce,” said Ohio Department of Higher Education Chancellor Randy Gardner. “Our colleges, universities and Career Technology Center are among the many partners in this collaborative effort.”
The career center will reimburse up to $3,000 for each technology-focused credential earned, said Nick Weldy, director of the Miami Valley CTC.
