A technical glitch in MBTA’s paratransit service The RIDE has left its disabled users in limbo, who have been told to seek other forms of transportation.
“MBTA’s paratransit service, RIDE, is experiencing a communications and technology disruption that has severely impacted RIDE’s ability to dispatch and dispatch vehicles,” MBTA spokeswoman Lisa Battiston said in a statement Friday morning. .”
“If you have travel scheduled for today, it is Friday, November 5. 11. Please consider alternative transportation. If you have a medical emergency, please call 911.”
RIDE provides door-to-door shared public transportation for people who cannot use the subway, bus or trolley all or part of the time due to a temporary or permanent disability, making Friday’s service disruption particularly inconvenient.
The service outage affected the RIDE Access Center, or TRAC, Battiston said. Customers are advised to call MBTA’s Customer Support Center at 617-222-3200 for assistance.
“The MBTA is working hard to resolve this issue and we ask for patience as we resolve this critical situation,” Baptiston said.
