Dozens rescued from Highway 99 after vehicles get stuck in floodwaters; missing person nearby searched

Flooding in parts of Highway 99 in Sacramento County as of Sunday morning stranded vehicles and rescued dozens of people, a fire official said. Caltrans said Highway 99 was closed 1.4 miles south of Elk Gove on Dillard Road. Fire crews are searching the area after receiving a credible missing persons report. Chief Meteorologist Mark Finan reported from Dillard Road that there were a number of rescue vehicles at the scene. He said he saw a helicopter take two people to safety and two others still need help. Fire Chief Chris Schamber of Cosumnes Fire Station said “dozens” of people had been rescued and urged people to stay at home. The area is being affected by flooding from the Cosumnes River and Deer Creek. On Golden Gate Boulevard in Stockton, the road is reduced to one lane southbound. Drivers were told to use an alternate route.
