The game had reached memorable levels and the final minutes were preparing for an unprecedented finish. JJ McCarthy found Roman Wilson in the end zone for his second touchdown in the air, and Wilson had more than 100 receiving yards.

Ohio State fans are taking their seats at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. While Ohio State’s game against Georgia is still in pregame mode, the Buckeyes’ loyal fans are still cheering, rooting for TCU to take a lead over rival Michigan in another College Football Playoff semifinal.

Another good play led to a touchdown, this time on a short pass from Max Duggan to Quentin Johnson, followed by a fumbled tackle on the sideline and a drive to the end zone. The scoring spree continued, with seven of the last nine possessions now ending with six points.

Romain Wilson drove the ball into the end zone from 18 yards (interrupted by a helicopter in the middle), and Ronnie Wilson added a two-point conversion at the end of almost the entire final quarter to cut the Wolverines’ deficit to just three. All of this started when TCU fumbled in the final game of the third.

How about a combined 44 points in the third quarter? ! Michigan’s defense became too aggressive and Emari Demarcado made them pay, speeding up the rush and breaking a 69-yard run to the one-yard line. Max Duggan sank the ball again for his second rushing touchdown of the night. Four games later, the Wolverines were in the end zone again after JJ McCarthy completed another deep throw.

In three games, Michigan’s offense scored six points, all thanks to JJ McCarthy’s legs. A 39-yard scramble on second down followed by 20 yards into the end zone thanks to ample scoring in the third quarter. The Wolverines tried another QB run for a two-point conversion, but it didn’t work out well.

The game was again away from Michigan, and the second interception scored a touchdown in the game. JJ McCarthy was drafted by the Dee Winters and added another great night to an already great night (6 tackles, 2 fumbles). The Frogs again led by three points.

The Horned Frogs are now scoring more points against Michigan than any other team this season, and they’ve done so in just six games and two minutes. This time around, Max Duggan stepped back and was replaced by running back Emari Demarcado, who did a good job of filling in for the injured Kendre Miller. Demarcado ran for 29 yards on five consecutive carries into the end zone and restored TCU’s two-run lead.

JJ McCarthy played deep again with Roman Wilson (flea flicker!), and Michigan turned the game into a one-score game midway through the third quarter. The Wolverines got the ball back in a favorable field position thanks to Mike Thane Ristier’s interception of Max Duggan near midcourt. Guys, we have a game.

Blake Moody scored on a 21-yard field goal, his third of the night, as the Wolverines reached the red zone again but missed the mark. The Wolverines were strong on plays of 20 and 43 yards, but the Horned Frogs once again formed a wall at the goal line, forcing Michigan to score on the backboard.

Jack Moody at the University of Michigan Shot 59 yards Ending the first half, the Wolverines led 21-6. Moody missed his first attempt, but TCU called a timeout to try and stop him.

The Max Duggan show continues at the Fiesta Bowl. On the final drive, he got the job done with his arms and feet, scrambling for more yards and scouting the field for open receivers. On the 2nd from the 6-yard line, Duggan rolled right and shot Taye Barber on the run to escape the pressure, and Taye Barber found the end zone to give the Frogans the lead at halftime.

On the next play after Rod Moore intercepted Max Duggan, Michigan took TCU’s defense off a 50-yard pass from JJ McCarthy to Ronnie Wilson, setting up what appeared to be a one-yard Michigan touchdown. But during a goal line scrimmage, the ball was coughed up and recovered by the horned frog! It was the second red-zone turnover by Michigan’s offense.

Who else would call his number on the first field goal at the one-yard line? The Heisman runner-up faked a handoff and ran to the left, pinning his shoulder on a defender as he went through the plane, ending a 12-play, 76-yard kickoff with just over five minutes to play. The Horned Frogs wallow in Glendale, Arizona.
For Michigan, it’s already the biggest deficit the Wolverines have faced all seasons.
