A survey by Gartner Inc. It was found that 58% of organizations report having technical talent working in a completely remote, borderless arrangement. This number has doubled in the past three years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to Gartner, a borderless workforce refers to people who work remotely from different countries under employment contracts signed across borders. The survey also found that 27% of leaders are considering hiring tech workers without borders.
Gabriela Vogel, senior director analyst at Gartner, said: “As increasing retention and recruiting has risen to become the third-highest priority for CEOs this year and in 2023, it’s no surprise that the rate of hiring borderless technologists has doubled over the past three years. ” “The Covid-19 pandemic has also accelerated recruitment without borders, the exception in the first place is no longer.”
The survey was conducted among 288 C-level executives and their direct reports in the second quarter of 2022. The survey found that in organizations with borderless talent, 19 percent of IT employees are borderless.
The survey found that India is the country with the largest number of borderless skilled workforce recruits by European and North American companies.
According to Gartner, the top two areas of expertise where employers seek talent without borders are software engineering/application development, sought by 62% of survey respondents, and application support, sought by 55%.
