Cobb County Walmart Shooting Update
Cobb County police said one person was shot and killed at a Walmart on Parkway in Chastain Meadows. Police detained people from two groups involved in the shooting.
Cobb County, Georgia – One person was hospitalized in connection with the shooting outside the Walmart, the Cobb County Sheriff’s Department said.
Police said there was no active shooter and there was no current threat to the public. Police detained several “groups of people” involved in the shooting near the center of the car.
Walmart is located at 2795 Chastain Meadows Parkway just north of Marietta. According to authorities, the shooting happened between two different groups near the center of the car. That’s when police say an unidentified person was shot and the victim was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in a private car.
Investigators are continuing to gather information and interview witnesses.
Investigators have not yet identified a suspect and said it was unclear if anyone involved in the shooting had ties to the store.
Walmart is expected to reopen.
